Tip leads to arrest on cocaine charges in New Jersey

A Bayonne, New Jersey man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine early Saturday morning after New Jersey police received an anonymous call about a supposed drug transaction, New Jersey police said.

Theodore Baker, 51, of Avenue C, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine at 1:34 a.m. Saturday after New Jersey police watched him purchase drugs in Jersey City and ride back on a bike toward Bayonne, New Jersey police said.

According to reports, New Jersey officers began following Baker after noticing him riding his bike north along Broadway on the frigid night. After calling the narcotics unit, the New Jersey officers were told about the anonymous tip and they continued following Baker to the intersection of Stegman Street and Ocean Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey where they saw Baker meet up with an unidentified man and, after making an exchange with the man, get back on his bike and ride back toward Bayonne, New Jersey police said.

New Jersey police said they stopped Baker at 53rd Street and Broadway and recovered 15 vials of cocaine in his right sock.
