New Jersey police say man tossed cocaine vialA Bayonne, New Jersey man apparently trying to ditch some evidence during a traffic stop tossed a vial of cocaine out his car window - and hit an approaching Bayonne, New Jersey police officer in the chest with it, New Jersey police said.
David O'Connell, 18, of Kennedy Boulevard, was pulled over around 11 p.m. Monday at Cottage Street and Broadway for not using his turn signal, reports said.
New Jersey police said O'Connell threw something out the window and it hit an approaching officer in the chest. The New Jersey cop picked it up and, after noting the vial contained suspected cocaine, arrested O'Connell on drug charges.
While being escorted to the squad car, O'Connell allegedly kicked a second vial of cocaine from his pant leg and tried to crush it with his foot, but police were able to grab it, reports said.
A search at headquarters uncovered a third vial, stashed in O'Connell's shoe, New Jersey police said.
